When I was a kid, the school-day monotony periodically was interrupted by the arrival of the box of books that the class ordered from a menu of options. I became an aficionado of sections from the Punt, Pass, and Kick library, a pre-Madden method for indoctrinating youngsters into the Cult of Big Shield.
It worked. I still have some of the books, and I still remember some of the things I learned, way back when. Gamebreakers of the NFL was the first one I ever purchased, back in the early 1970s.
This morning, I popped open a box of books that contained only one title. Playmakers. Twenty-five copies of it. Running my personal stash to 27. That’s more, as the haters will say, than we’ll sell on the open market.
If you’d like to help us get to 27, here’s your latest chance to do it. The book will be released in only 13 days.
