Anquan Boldin happy to take time before finding 2016 team

Wide receiver Anquan Boldin said it was “almost impossible to win” with the 49ers last season because of the outside distractions that surrounded the team in the months leading up to Week One.

Boldin cited those frustrations as motivation to coming back with better results in 2016, although he still doesn’t know where he’ll be playing. Boldin has visited with the Redskins, but the market for the veteran has been quiet otherwise. Boldin says that’s OK with him because he’s comfortable taking his time before finding a new home.

“I’m taking my time right now,” Boldin said, via CBSSports.com. “It’s the first time in 13 years I’ve been a free agent, so I get to pick where I want to go now. I’m definitely going to take my time and make the best decision for me and my family.”

Boldin had 69 catches for 789 yards and four touchdowns last season, numbers that are down from his previous highs although that’s to be expected for a player slowing down as he nears his 36th birthday. There should be enough left in the tank to help a team with realistic expectations for his contributions and that team’s identity will likely become known at some point after the draft.
