Vikings cornerback Antoine Winfield injured his foot on October 18. Nearly two months later, he might be making his return against another AFC North team in Sunday.
Winfield says he believes he’ll be able to face the Bengals, according to Rick Alonzo of the St. Paul Pioneer Press.
“I think this is the week I finally get back out there and get to get some action,” Winfield said. “So we’ll see how warmups go on Sunday and hopefully I’m up.”
Winfield officially is listed as questionable. He was a limited participant in practice this week, but he suffered no setbacks.
“I still feel it a little bit, but it’s not as bad,” Winfield said. “The pain, I can work through.”
Though the Vikings have continued to play well without Winfield, they could use his abilities down the stretch as they attempt to nail down a first-round playoff bye. He also would be in a better position to help the team in the postseason if he gets back into full game shape before the regular season ends.
