New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick said the Pittsburgh Steelers weren’t the only ones having problems with their headsets on Thursday night.
In his postgame press conference, Belichick said the issues affected their sidelines as well.
“We had a lot of problems,” Belichick said. “We had to switch headphones a couple times. The communication system wasn’t very good. We deal with that it seems like weekly. Yeah, they told us they were on the verge of shutting it off, but then they I guess they got it working. I don’t know, but it was a problem the whole game. We almost had to switch helmets with Brady there at the end – couldn’t get the plays into him. It was a problem all night.”
NFL Spokesman Michael Signora said the issue was resolved after the “stadium power infrastructure issue” was addressed during the first half. If Belichick and Brady were still having problems at the end of the game, the issues may not have been as resolved as the NFL believed.
And if it truly is a weekly issue, the Patriots may want to address the matter once and for all and ensure the equipment can work reliably into the future.
