Bengals cut Kenny Watson

Kenny Watson made it six years as a running back for the Bengals, outlasting high draft picks like Kenny Irons and Chris Perry.

His time finally came Monday, when the team released him.

Watson, who started five games in 2007, entered camp as a potential backup to Cedric Benson, but Brian Leonard and rookie Bernard Scott outplayed him. Leonard is reportedly the favorite for the backup job.

The Bengals likely released Watson so early out of deference to his time with the team, giving him a shot to catch on elsewhere.
