Browns place Alex Mack on injured reserve

Mack

At one point this week, the Browns held out hope that center Alex Mack could return from a broken leg within eight or 10 weeks. Now, not.

The Browns have placed Mack on injured reserve, ending his 2014 season.

The team also announced that Mack underwent successful surgery to repair his fractured fibula on Thursday in Charlotte. Dr. Robert Anderson performed the procedure; a full recovery is expected for the 2015 season.

The Browns filled Mack’s roster spot by elevating offensive lineman Chris Seymour from the practice squad.
