The Browns parted ways with a couple of veterans on Wednesday, including wide receiver Dwayne Bowe a year after giving him $9 million in guaranteed money.
They are also adding a player who was a free agent flop in 2015. Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the team will sign former Broncos and Texans safety Rahim Moore.
Moore signed a three-year, $12 million deal in Houston last year and started six of the first seven games for the Texans before winding up on the bench for the remainder of the season. He ended the year with 16 tackles and an interception.
Moore was more successful during his four years with the Broncos, who selected him in the second round of the 2011 draft. He started 41 games over his final three years in Denver, although he may be best remembered for letting Jacoby Jones get behind him for a game-tying touchdown in the final seconds of the fourth quarter of what turned into a playoff loss to the Ravens in 2013.
If Moore sticks with the Browns into the regular season, he’ll get to face the Ravens and quarterback Joe Flacco, who threw the pass to Jones, a couple more times in 2016.
