Rest easy: Tampa Bay’s brief time without a healthy punter is over.
The Buccaneers signed Dirk Johnson Thursday morning after trying out two punters. (The other punter is unknown.) Johnson spent four years with the Eagles, and has bounced around the last few years in Chicago and Arizona.
Dirk may not be the big, bright shining star of the punting world that injured Bucs punter Josh Bidwell was, but he’ll do for now.
Bidwell is awaiting tests on his hip that will decide his status for the season.
