Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger said he thought that Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict deliberately dove into his legs at the end of a play in last Sunday’s game, but it appears the NFL disagrees with that assessment.

Burfict’s agent Audie Attar says that the league has reviewed the play, which was not penalized on the field, and determined that Burfict will not be fined as a result of the hit.

Coley Harvey of ESPN.com asked Burfict about Roethlisberger’s comments on Wednesday and the linebacker’s response was a short one.

“It’s football,” Burfict said.

According to Roethlisberger, Burfict said he was pushed into his legs but Roethlisberger felt differently after watching a replay of the hit. Burfict was coming around the right side and teammate Carlos Dunlap appears to be the only player who could have pushed Burfict before he made contact with the back of Roethlisberger’s lower left leg.
