Running back C.J. Spiller didn’t have a long time to familiarize himself with the Seahawks offense this week, but he learned enough of it to score a touchdown in the second quarter against the Jets.
Spiller caught an eight-yard pass from Russell Wilson to cap a long drive with the first Seahawks points of the afternoon. They lead 7-3 with over 11 minutes to play in the first half.
Spiller signed with the Seahawks this week and was released by the Saints in early September. He also has a 13-yard run early in his first game with his new team.
The Seahawks drove 92 yards for the touchdown and one of the biggest plays came on a long completion to wide receiver Doug Baldwin. Baldwin took a shot to the head from Jets safety Calvin Pryor as he reeled in the 37-yard gain, earning a flag for Pryor and leading Baldwin to a sideline consult with the medical team.
Wilson is 6-of-7 for 115 yards and has moved well on his sprained MCL for the most part. He has been sacked by Leonard Williams once and took a big shot from Sheldon Richardson while delivering a 27-yard pass to Jimmy Graham earlier on the touchdown drive.
UPDATE 1:58 p.m. ET: Baldwin has returned to the game.
