CABLE WILL SUCCEED KIFFIN

We suppose it’s fitting that Lane Kiffin, who was generally unknown when he was hired in early 2007 to coach the Raiders, will be replaced by another guy who is generally unknown. Offensive line coach Tom Cable will take over the reins, according to Adam Schefter of NFLN. Cable, 43, previously served as offensive line coach in Atlanta, and was the head coach at Idaho from 2000 through 2003. Cable also served as offensive coordinator at UCLA in 2004 and 2005. It had been believed in some circles that the internal candidates would be James Lofton, Paul Hackett, and Rob Ryan. In the end, only Hackett was interviewed for the job.
