CADILLAC’S INJURY NOT AS BAD THIS TIME

A day after a home loss to the Raiders ended their season, word on injured running back Cadillac Williams brought the Buccaneers a sliver of good news. Williams was injured when he was tackled at the end of a 28-yard run in the fourth quarter, and it was feared that he suffered a torn patellar tendon in his left knee. Williams suffered the same injury in his right knee in Week 4 of the 2007 season and missed the remainder of that season, as well as the first 10 games this year. The injury isn’t as bad this time. Williams confirmed he tore the tendon and will have surgery, but the recovery time is expected to be six to eight weeks. “It is. It’s torn, but it’s not the severity of the last one,” Williams said, referring to the torn patellar injury in Week 4 at Carolina in the 2007 season. “It’s more of an off the bone tear, so this process should be much easier. Williams had 78 yards and two touchdowns in the loss, his best outing since returning to the active roster.
