Defensive back Charles Woodson recently has said he likely won’t be playing in Green Bay next year. He also may not be playing in Oakland. Or anywhere else.
Via Vic Tafur of the San Francisco Chronicle, Woodson talked about the possibility of retiring during an interview with SiriusXM NFL Radio.
“If the right numbers don’t come across, for myself and from the team’s standpoint, then it is a serious consideration at this point that I could have played my last season in the NFL,” Woodson said. “So that’s definitely something that I think about. I do plan on playing another year. Hopefully, something can get done with the Raiders. But if not then I’ve got to take a real hard look at this last year being the last one.”
During an interview with Pro Football Talk on NBCSN at the Scouting Combine, Raiders coach Dennis Allen named Woodson -- the 1997 Heisman winner -- as one of the team’s priority free agents. Woodson presumably wants to see how that status translates to dollars.
