The most important questions about the Chiefs drafting wide receiver Tyreek Hill were never really about football, considering the domestic violence charges against him by a then-pregnant girlfriend.

But as the Chiefs give him a second chance with conditions, they clearly think he has a chance to make an impact on the field.

Via Luke Manderfeld of the Kansas City Star, veteran special teams coach Dave Toub dropped some serious praise on Hill, saying the fifth-rounder had the chance to be special in the return game and on offense.

He’s the fastest player I’ve ever had,” Toub said. “I say that and I’ve coached Devin Hester.”

Hill was an All-American sprinter at Oklahoma State, but Hester’s the NFL’s all-time leader in return touchdowns, so any similarities are welcome for Chiefs fans.

“They’re both natural catchers,” Toub said. “[Hester] is fast, make no mistake about it, but the different between [Hester] and [Hill] is the size. Devin was a big [guy] and could break tackles.”

That’s all well and good, but we’ll see when games begin whether he’s able to make that speed translate to the field, and justify the Chiefs’ faith in him.
