Chiefs heading to Houston without their starting guards

Kansas City Chiefs v Arizona Cardinals

Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles is still making his way back from last year’s torn ACL and has been listed as doubtful on the team’s final injury report of the week.

Charles drew the same designation before sitting out against the Chargers, so it’s a good bet that Spencer Ware will be getting the call in the backfield again. Ware had 199 yards from scrimmage in Kansas City’s comeback win and he’ll be trying to duplicate that kind of impact, although he’ll have to do it without either of the team’s starting guards in front of him.

The Chiefs ruled out left guard Parker Ehinger, who has a concussion, and right guard Laurent Duvernay-Tardif, who has an ankle injury, on Friday. Zach Fulton and Jah Reid, who both played a lot in Kansas City’s playoff win over the Texans, are the likely replacements in the starting lineup.

A roster move may also be in offing as the Chiefs have just six healthy offensive linemen on the roster at the moment.
