Indiana wide receiver Cody Latimer is coming off a broken bone in his foot, but that hasn’t stopped him from impressing in workouts this offseason.
Latimer put up the best bench press numbers at the combine and then ran a 4.4 40 and posted a 39-inch vertical leap at Indiana’s pro day to make him an intriguing prospect for teams looking for receiver help in this year’s draft. That’s led to a slew of visits around the league and, on Friday, he’ll get another chance to impress teams.
Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports that “nearly every team” will have representatives in Indianapolis to watch Latimer do on-field drills. Among the teams that will be present are the 49ers, who Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee reports will have wide receivers coach John Morton there to check out Latimer’s performance.
The 49ers are thought to be in the market for a wideout to go with Michael Crabtree and Anquan Boldin, but the growing interest in Latimer could mean that they’ll have to look in another direction if they remain at the 30th spot in the first round. The 49ers have stockpiled quite the collection of picks, though, and they could use some of them to move up to select Latimer or any other prospect that think will help them make a fourth straight playoff run.
