Connecticut Pass Rusher Drawing NFL Interest

University of Connecticut defensive end/outside linebacker Cody Brown has conducted workouts with the Denver Broncos, New York Giants and the New England Patriots, according to a league source. Brown, who met with Bill Parcells and Jeff Ireland following a Miami Dolphins practice in January, registered 10 sacks and forced four fumbles last season for the Huskies. He had a dozen formal interviews at the NFL Scouting Combine, including the Carolina Panthers, Baltimore Ravens, San Francisco 49ers and the Arizona Cardinals. The 6'2, 244-pound pass rusher is regarded as an outside linebacker by most NFL teams, but some teams, including the Tennessee Titans, view him as a defensive end prospect. Prior to his Pro Day workout, Brown had a 30-minute chalk talk with Patriots coach Bill Belichick. Brown ran a 4.76 in the 40-yard dash at the combine, also registering a 36 1/2 inch vertical leap and bench pressed 225 pounds 26 times. He also had a 10-0 broad jump. At his Pro Day, some scouts timed Brown as fast as 4.56 and 4.58 seconds in the 40-yard dash.
