The arrival of Donte Whitner won’t be the only change to the safety group in Washington.
According to multiple reports, the Redskins will place safety David Bruton on injured reserve. Bruton suffered a concussion last Sunday in the team’s victory over the Browns.
Bruton signed as a free agent and has started all four games the Redskins have played in his first season with the team. That was a change in role than the backup/special teams one that Bruton filled with the Broncos during most of his first seven years in the NFL and he’d recorded 28 tackles and a sack.
Most of the reports of Bruton’s move to injured reserve also noted that Josh Evans was on the practice field for the Redskins Wednesday. Evans was a 2013 sixth-round pick of the Jaguars and started 37 games for Jacksonville over the last three years before being released in September.
Defensive lineman Kendall Reyes was also released on Wednesday as part of the reshuffling on the defensive side of the ball.
