One of the Lions’ defensive standouts of 2013 was again absent from practice on Friday.
Outside linebacker DeAndre Levy (foot) wasn’t on the field for the third straight day, Tim Twentyman of DetroitLions.com reported.
The 26-year-old Levy is tied for the NFL lead in interceptions (six), and he’s second on the Lions in tackles (105).
Rocky McIntosh is listed as the top backup to Levy on the Lions’ depth chart.
The Lions did have wideout Calvin Johnson (knee) back at practice, Twentyman reported. Johnson has taken some rest time throughout the season because of this lingering knee ailment. However, tight end Brandon Pettigrew (ankle) was not present, Twentyman said. Pettigrew missed Wednesday and Thursday with the injury.
The Lions (7-7) are a game out of first place in the NFC North with two games left to play.
