The Steelers already have a lead back, but they could still use some insurance.
They may have it lined up already, as former Panthers running back DeAngelo Williams is visiting the Steelers Friday, per Adam Schefter of ESPN.
The Steelers were caught short after LeGarrette Blount walked out on them last year, and then Le’Veon Bell suffered a Week 17 knee injury which kept him out of the playoffs.
Bell is also expected to be suspended for a pair of games this year because of an ill-timed marijuana/DUI plea, so the Steelers will need someone to stand in.
The soon-to-be 32-year-old Williams doesn’t have the legs to be an every down back any longer, but could offer some solid reps for someone after injuries, age and money brought his Panthers career to an end yesterday.
