Dee Milliner returns to practice

The Jets were 19-14 winners against the Raiders in their opening game, but they face what should be a stiffer test in Week Two against the Packers.

Of particular concern should be the defense’s ability to keep Aaron Rodgers and the Packers passing game from putting up big numbers against their depleted cornerback corps. Having a healthy Dee Milliner in the lineup would help matters on that front, although it sounds like they’d be willing to settle for something a little bit less.

Milliner returned to practice on Wednesday for the first time since suffering a high ankle sprain in August and coach Rex Ryan said, via Brian Costello of the New York Post, after the session that he was “cautiously optimistic” about the chances that Milliner could be in the lineup come Sunday.

Ryan also said that Milliner did “quite a bit” during practice and that he wouldn’t expect him to play the entire game in his first week back. That would be asking a lot, especially if Milliner’s not 100 percent, but the Jets can use every little bit of help in the secondary they can get as they try to start the season with two straight wins for the first time since 2011.
