The Giants placed one injured cornerback on injured reserve and their chances of having another one in the lineup this week don’t look too good.
Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie missed practice for the second straight day because of a leg injury that has kept him from going the distance in either of the last two games. Coach Tom Coughlin said that the cornerback “still has a ways to go” if he’s going to play this week, but the team hasn’t stopped working to to find ways of getting Rodgers-Cromartie on the field against the Cowboys.
“They’re working on trying get him to where he can do something,” Coughlin said, via Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News.
For his part, Rodgers-Cromartie said that he’s confident that he can play on Sunday despite describing himself as being “60 percent” and sharing that doctors have told him rest is the only treatment for the issue right now. Given Coughlin’s description of things, though, it seems that Rodgers-Cromartie is likelier to be on the bench than on the field until the Giants return from a bye in Week Nine.
