Like many players in free agency, tackle Donald Stephenson agreed to terms sight unseen. Which is fitting in Denver, given that the team’s starting quarterback is currently unseen.
But Stephenson isn’t troubled by the fact that he signed contract that doesn’t have a No. 1 quarterback under contract.
“I put a little bit of thought into it,” Stephenson told reporters on Thursday. “I feel like any time you’ve got a [General Manager] like you do here that quarterbacks are going to come running. I’m not worried about it. I’m pretty sure they’re going to find a guy that can play.”
Stephenson, who said he had interest from 13 to 15 teams, nevertheless joined one of the few teams that has no idea who will be taking the snaps come September.
“I’m sure they will take care of it,” Stephenson said.
They surely will. Whether they get a guy who can lead the team back to the postseason remains to be seen.
