Chip Kelly wasn’t able to get the Buccaneers or Titans to bite on a trade at the top of the first round, but he found more success with the Dolphins on the second day of the draft.
Philly moved up from the 52nd overall pick to Miami’s 47th pick and used the selection to add Utah defensive back Eric Rowe to their roster. The Eagles will send the 52nd pick to Miami along with the 145th pick (fifth-round) and 156th pick (sixth-round). Miami will send a sixth-round pick, No. 191 overall, back their way.
Rowe played safety for most of his career at Utah, but switched to cornerback for his final season and there were reports that different teams liked him at different spots as he made the pre-draft rounds. Wherever he winds up playing, the Eagles should find space for him even after adding cornerbacks Byron Maxwell and Walter Thurmond in free agency.
The Eagles added wide receiver Nelson Agholor, who shares a Pac-12 pedigree with Rowe and Kelly, in the first round and own the 86th overall pick later on Friday night.
