The Eagles signed veteran wide receiver Miles Austin to go with Jordan Matthews, Riley Cooper and Josh Huff recently, but the departure of Jeremy Maclin as a free agent earlier this offseason may still lead them to select a wideout early in the draft.
Coach Chip Kelly went to Tampa last week to hold a private workout with USC wide receiver Nelson Agholor, who is projected to come off the board in the first two rounds. Agholor, who has a similar build to Maclin, caught 104 passes for 1,313 yards and 12 touchdowns and has earned high marks as a route runner.
Agholor also visited the Eagles at their facility earlier this offseason, so Kelly’s visit suggests some level of interest in the former Trojan. Such interest likely exists for several players, but Eliot Shorr-Parks of NJ.com points out that things played out in a similar way with Matthews last year before the Eagles traded up to take him in the second round.
The Eagles hold the 20th and 52nd overall picks in this year’s draft.
