The Bears weren’t expected to have wide receiver Alshon Jeffery in the lineup to face the Chiefs on Sunday and his absence was confirmed when the team released its inactive list on Sunday morning.
Jeffery is out for the fourth straight game with a hamstring injury and he won’t be the only Bears wideout out of action this week. Eddie Royal is also going to miss the game after being listed as questionable on Friday due to an ankle injury.
Royal leads Bears wide receivers with 18 catches on the season, although they’ve only generated 120 yards of offense for the team. Marquess Wilson and Josh Bellamy, who have combined for 10 catches so far in 2015, will be the team’s starting wideouts in Kansas City.
The Bears are also missing left tackle Jermon Bushrod and they’ll have center Hroniss Grasu making his first NFL start after the loss of Will Montgomery last weekend. Rookie safety Harold Jones-Quartey will also be in the starting lineup for the first time with Antrel Rolle ruled out because of an ankle injury.
It all adds up to a difficult set of circumstances for the Bears as they try for a second straight victory.
