The New York Jets are bringing back linebacker Erin Henderson.
According to Dom Cosentino of the Newark Star-Ledger, the Jets have reached a deal with Henderson worth $5 million over two years with $750,000 guaranteed.
Henderson revitalized his career with the Jets last season after being out of the league in 2014. Henderson was released by the Minnesota Vikings after being arrested twice in the span of three months for suspected drunk driving incidents. After pleading guilty to a misdemeanor charge, Henderson was suspended four games by the NFL and never found an opportunity until the Jets signed him last April.
Henderson appeared in all 16 games for the Jets last season. He had 45 tackles, a pass defended and a forced fumble. But with Demario Davis leaving to sign with the Cleveland Browns, Henderson would seem to be the favorite to take over his starting job this season.
Per Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News, Henderson’s deal has a base value of $3.1 million that could reach the max of $5 million with escalators.
