On Thursday, the Steelers waived 2014 third-round pick Dri Archer and Friday saw another team part ways with a player picked in that round.
The Falcons announced that they have waived defensive back Dezmen Southward from their 53-man roster and replaced him on the roster with cornerback Akeem King, who was a seventh-round pick this season.
Southward played in all 16 games for the Falcons last season, but fell out of favor under Dan Quinn’s coaching staff this year. He appeared in just three games and made one tackle while playing only a handful of defensive snaps.
King was on the practice squad after failing to make the 53-man roster. The Falcons have ruled out cornerback Robert Alford and safety William Moore, which could lead to a spot in the lineup for King against the 49ers on Sunday.
