Georgia Dome operators suggest retractable roof

The Falcons would love to move into an open air stadium. The organization that operates the Georgia Dome, unsurprisingly, has different ideas.

The Georgia World Congress Center Authority, which operates the Dome, will present a study on Tuesday that says they could add a retractable roof, while nearly tripling the stadium’s parking spaces and adding club seats.

Falcons President Rich McKay said last month that a retractable roof would be too expensive. The study conveniently doesn’t provide a price for the upgrades.

It’s early, but this is shaping up to possibly become a battle between the Falcons and the “GWCC.” The Falcons are easily the Georgia Dome’s most important tenant, but the stadium also has to consider the college football games played there, as well as other events.
