The Dolphins will be without center Jake Grove as they try to move above .500 against the Bills on Sunday afternoon.
Grove injured his ankle against the Panthers in the second half of last week’s victory. Grove missed practice all week and was listed as doubtful on the final Dolphins injury report. Grove has played all 16 games in a season only once in his six NFL seasons. He’ll be replaced by Joe Berger, a versatile backup who will be making his first NFL start.
With Ronnie Brown already out, the loss of Grove would seem to have a negative impact on Miami’s ability to run the ball. They didn’t miss a beat without either of them in the second half last week, however, and with Bills defensive tackle Marcus Stroud ailing there might not be much of a loss this week either.
The Dolphins, at 5-5, need to win in Buffalo to keep their hopes of a return trip to the playoffs alive.
