Jason Pierre-Paul couldn’t see adjustments from where he was sitting

When the team was down in the dumps last week, Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul questioned whether they had enough heart.

But he apparently didn’t have the stomach for questions about why they gave up a a lead at halftime to the Seahawks, or whether they made any adjustments.

“I don’t know,” Pierre-Paul said, via Bob Glauber of Newsday. “I was in the bathroom.”
Pierre-Paul was careful to not step in anything when pressed on the issue of heart afterward, repeating “We’ll be OK,” when asked several different ways.

But the reality was clear.

“It’s embarrassing,” Pierre-Paul said. “At the same time, we made big mistakes. In the second half, we had a lead and came back out, and we just made big mistakes.”

It wasn’t just Pierre-Paul and Antrel Rolle questioning the team’s intestinal fortitude this time. Veteran cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie admitted how humilating the loss was.

“You’re fighting for your season. You come into a hostile environment and you know it’s going to be a physical game,” he said. “For them to line up and run and hit us in the mouth, that hurt. That hurts. That’s shocking. To go out there and not finish? You can’t let that happen.”

That left the Giants with a 3-6 record — the same as this time last year — and plenty of unfinished business the rest of the season.
