Well, the Jets now have at least one running back under contract who doesn’t have a stick up his ass. With Thomas Jones and Leon Washington each angling for new deals, rookie Shonn Greene has agreed to terms on his first NFL contract. The Jets announced the move earlier this afternoon. The Jets moved up to the top of round three to draft Greene, making him the first pick of the second day of the draft. Terms were not disclosed. Typically, a third-rounder gets a slotted signing bonus and minimum base salaries. In Greene’s case, it’ll be important to know whether he signed a deal with a duration of three years or four years. For running backs, who tended to get chewed up and spit out more quickly than the men who play other positions, a shorter deal becomes even more desirable.
