The Jets continued signing their draft picks on Friday by getting third-round pick Jordan Jenkins under contract.

Jenkins is the sixth member of the seven-player class to agree to a deal with the team, leaving first-round linebacker Darron Lee as the only unsigned selection. There’s no reason to think that Lee should remain without a deal for long.

Jenkins joins Lee as a new addition to a linebacking corps that has seen several changes this offseason. Lee is slated for a role on the inside while Jenkins will be in the mix for playing time at an outside spot. Lorenzo Mauldin, Trevor Reilly, Mike Catapano and CFL import Freddie Bishop are some of the other players who will be involved in that competition.

Jenkins wasn’t as highly regarded by NFL teams as teammate Leonard Floyd, who went ninth overall, coming out of Georgia, but was a steady and effective player for the Bulldogs throughout his career. He doesn’t profile as an elite pass rusher, but does enough things well that a starting role could be in his future.
