Only one piece of the puzzle remains to be put in place to complete one of the major trades executed on the first day of free agency.
Seattle Seahawks owner Paul Allen tweeted Wednesday night that tight end Jimmy Graham had successfully completed his physical with the team and welcomed Graham to the roster. However, center Max Unger must also complete his physical with the New Orleans Saints before the deal is finalized.
And that may not be a completely slam dunk proposition.
Unger missed 10 games last season for Seattle with leg and foot injuries. He’s missed 13 games over the past two seasons.
Unger was home in Hawaii when the trade happened and has yet to make it to New Orleans for his exam. General manager John Schneider told 710 ESPN in Seattle Wednesday that physical is expected to occur sometime within the next week.
It’s still highly likely the deal gets done without any hiccups. But it won’t truly be official until the Saints can make sure they are comfortable with the health of their new piece as well.
