The Texans didn’t play in Week 10, freeing the team up to change quarterbacks while other members of the team healed from injuries.
We’ll have to wait for the weekend to find out how the decision to start Ryan Mallett works out for Houston, but the healing up appears to have gone well for one injured member of the defense.
Cornerback Johnathan Joseph said Monday that he has been cleared to return to action after going through the league’s concussion protocol. Joseph was injured in the team’s Week Nine loss to the Eagles, a game that also saw cornerback Kareem Jackson depart with a knee injury.
“I’m thankful for it, the way the league has responded to it, the way they are handling things,” Joseph said, via the team’s website. “Obviously, it gives the player the right mindset - that you’re able to go back out there and focus on everything. The do take the proper steps to make sure that safety is first.”
Jackson is expected to miss at least this week as he recovers from the injury, so having Jackson in the lineup allows the Texans to avoid replacing both starters against the Browns. The status of linebackers Jadeveon Clowney and Brian Cushing will also be something to monitor this week after both players missed the loss to the Eagles.
