The Falcons bottomed out at 2-3 after a Week Five loss to the Packers. Making matters worse was a hamstring injury that has knocked rookie receiver Julio Jones out of action for two games, against the Panthers and Lions.
The good news? The Falcons won both of them. The better news? Jones was back at practice on Monday, according to D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
“It was good to have Julio back out there today,” coach Mike Smith said. “We felt that Julio was very close to returning for the Detroit game and, obviously, another week enhanced his chances of being ready for this week.”
The Falcons will file an injury report Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, in advance of Sunday’s game against the Colts. Those reports will give a much clearer indication as to whether Jones will play in a game that the Falcons should be able to win without Jones. Or roughly 40 percent of the rest of their roster.
