LINEHAN WILL INTERVIEW WITH RAIDERS

The San Francisco 49ers might be feeling a little pathetic right now. Just a handful of days after former Rams coach Scott Linehan told the Niners “thanks but no thanks” in response to their offer to become the team’s next offensive coordinator, Linehan will interview for the same position with the Oakland Raiders. Steve Corkran of the Oakland Tribune reports that Linehan will join soon-to-be-former Rams offensive coordinator Al Saunders as candidates for the Raiders’ job. “It was nothing business-related,” Linehan said of his decision not to work for the 49ers. “It was 100 percent not economic. They were great. Everything was done with the utmost class. It was more of a personal decision I had come to.” So, basically, Linehan is now interested in working for a team that plays its home games on the other side of the Bay from whatever they now call Candlestick Park. The only real difference is that Linehan’s former teammate at Idaho, Tom Cable, could end up being the Raiders’ permanent head coach. Linehan also has been mentioned as a potential candidate for the offensive coordinator position in Tampa.
