Lions avoid blackout

Green Bay Packers v Detroit Lions

Sunday’s Packers-Lions game will be televised in Detroit, as the team has announced that it sold enough tickets to lift the blackout.

Sunday’s game is the sixth sellout in seven home games, giving the Lions more sellouts this year than they had in either 2008 or 2009.

So even though the Lions are 2-10 and once again playing meaningless games in December, and even though the economy in Detroit is terrible, the local fans are supporting their team. The Lions’ record is lousy, but they’re playing competitive football, and Lions fans this year have been treated mostly to close, exciting games.

Even if they haven’t been treated to many victories.
