The last three games played by the UFL’s Las Vegas Locomotives (also known as the “Locos”) have come against the Florida Tuskers. In the first meeting, the Locos beat the Tuskers for the first-ever UFL title. (A total of 30,000 tickets were distributed, but the number of people who claim they were there continues to grow. It’s now up to 11,000.) In the next meeting, to launch the 2010 UFL season, the Tuskers took down the defending champs.
This time around, after the Locos had the early bye that comes from playing in a five-team league, Las Vegas erased a 17-10 deficit (after blowing a 10-0 lead) and beat the Tuskers, 20-17.
Sparking the victory was the return of running back DeDe Dorsey. After trying unsuccessfully to leverage a strong 2009 UFL performance into leverage an NFL career, Dorsey came back to the Locos, and he generated 204 yards of total offense (99 rushing, 105 receiving).
“I just needed a refresher course to pick up the offense,” Dorsey said. “We felt our backs would be better than the linebackers covering us. Anytime the backs could get out and catch a pass would be good for us.”
The Tuskers are 1-2; the Locos improved to 1-1. A total of 9,054 fans attended the game, which was played in Orlando.
