Dareus will miss the next two weeks of voluntary practices to take time off from football in a bid to get his life and career on track following his latest off-field legal issue. Bills defensive tackle Marcell Dareus will get his day in court, right before the start of the regular season.

According to Ed Drantch of WIVB in Buffalo, Dareus will have a non-jury trial on street racing charges on Sept. 9.

That’s the Tuesday before the start of the regular season.

Drantch also reports that a plea deal was offered, but not immediately accepted.

Dareus has also applied for pre-trial intervention on drug possession charges as well.

The combined weight of the charges could result in a suspension, even without a conviction.
