Marshall trial moves right along

In California, high-profile criminal trials seem to drag on endlessly.

In Georgia, they get down to business pretty quickly.

The trial of Broncos receiver Brandon Marshall started this morning, and already a jury has been picked, the lawyers have made their opening statements, and three witnesses have testified.

The fourth, Rasheedah Watley, is on the stand now.

Lindsay Jones of the Denver Post is providing periodic updates.

Two of the witnesses -- Watley’s sisters -- said that Marshall was hiding in a closet and “came out aggressively” toward them on the night in question.

The police officer who responded to the 911 call said that Watley appeared to be “bleeding from the mouth,” but that she seemed to have no other injuries.

Marshall, per Jones, is not expected to testify.

If the prosecution calls no other witnesses and the defense chooses to call none of them, the evidence could be fully introduced today, with jury instructions and closing arguments occurring on Friday morning.
