Running back Marshawn Lynch, deliberately or not, has created an air of mystery regarding pretty much everything he does, due in large part to an intense reluctance to speak publicly. He has decided to speak publicly for the first time about his decision to retire, with Showtime’s 60 Minutes Sports. And Lynch has spoken as clearly as possible about his future.
“I’m retired,” a somewhat agitated Lynch says after being asked about the possibility of joining the Raiders for one final season. “Is that good enough? Which camera do you want me to look into? This one? I’m done. I’m not playing football anymore.”
Lynch’s agent, Doug Hendrickson, says in the same interview that, when it comes to Marshawn, Hendrickson never says never. Regardless, Lynch has said the closest thing to never. Given his reaction, it would be smart for the media to never ask him the question again.
