Bart Scott thinks there are a lot of bad people in the Jets’ locker room. And he’s not talking about his former teammates or coaches.

Scott, who played for the Jets the last four seasons and retired this year, said on WFAN this morning that the reporters who cover the Jets are a destructive force, and the best thing to do is avoid them.

“In that locker room, there’s a bunch of jerks in there,” Scott said. “There’s a lot of people that go about business the wrong way. I didn’t want to deal with that. I thought, let’s not deal with them. You can’t not deal with them and talk to other media because they’ll put up a complaint against you. So the best thing was just to go against everybody, and the good kind of get bottled in with the bad.”

Scott is now a member of the media himself, having joined the Sunday pregame show on the CBS Sports Network. If Scott is an honest and straightforward analyst, there will be times when he criticizes active players. Who may then view Scott as a jerk.
