Megatron is back.
Lions receiver Calvin Johnson, who had missed three straight games and been significantly limited in two games before that because of an ankle injury, has returned today against the Dolphins. And it didn’t take him long to make his presence felt.
The Lions took over at the Dolphins’ 49-yard line on their second offensive possession, and on the first play they called a deep ball to Johnson. Matthew Stafford unleashed a bomb down the middle of the field, and Johnson reeled it in at the goal line for a 49-yard touchdown.
Dolphins cornerback Brent Grimes actually did a fine job in coverage, staying with Johnson step-for-step downfield. But the 6-foot-5 Johnson simply went up and got the ball where the 5-foot-10 Grimes couldn’t reach it.
The Lions had previously scored a field goal on their first offensive possession, and the Lions have an early 10-0 lead.
