Nate Irving expected to visit Cardinals this week
The Cardinals are expected to sign one linebacker coming off an injury this week when they are permitted to do more than wink and nod in agreement with Sean Weatherspoon.
They may not be done adding players at the position last seen on injured reserve. Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Cardinals are expected to bring Nate Irving in for a visit this week.
Irving started the first eight games at middle linebacker for Denver last year before a knee injury forced him to cut his season short. If healthy, he’d give the Cardinals a good option against the run on early downs and his injury may keep his price tag from getting too big for the Cardinals to swallow while addressing other needs on their roster.
It would also likely allow Larry Foote to remain on the team’s coaching staff rather than making the return to the field that was floated as a possibility when Foote joined Bruce Arians’s staff.
