The 49ers are suddenly stockpiling special-teams standouts.
A day after adding veteran safety/special-teamer Ray Ventrone, the Niners have signed receiver/special-teamer Kassim Osgood, per a source with knowledge of the transaction.
After seven seasons with the Chargers, Osgood spent two with the Jaguars. Last year, he played for the Lions.
Despite periodically making noise about wanting to be involved on offense, Osgood made his mark on special teams, with three Pro Bowls. Since catching 15 passes in 2004, his second NFL season, Osgood has a total of 16 career receptions.
