Montee Ball does not need his appendix.
Actually, no one needs an appendix. But Ball showed tonight that he can quickly shake it off after getting his appendix removed.
Ball, the Broncos running back who hadn’t played yet in the preseason because o an appendectomy, was in the starting lineup for tonight’s preseason game against the Texans. And not only was Ball in the starting offense, he was the offense: Ball got the ball eight times on Denver’s first drive, with 13 rushing yards on four carries and 21 receiving yards on four catches.
Denver marched down the field but stalled in the red zone, ultimately settling for a field goal at the end of a 66-yard drive. The Broncos’ offense appears to be running smoothly, and Ball seems to be comfortable without an appendix, but with a secure spot in the starting lineup.
