One of the top quarterback prospects on projected draft boards officially threw his hat into the ring on Monday.

Kizer announced his plans to head into the professional ranks and said he’s “ready to accept this challenge” of entering the NFL. Because of his position, plenty of people will be following his visits and workouts over the coming months to see where that challenge will begin.

Much has been made of the lack of a surefire top pick among this year’s incoming quarterbacks and Kizer certainly hasn’t convinced the masses that he’s worth taking at the top of the draft, but quarterbacks are always valued and Kizer’s best work has shown the mix of arm and athleticism that teams are looking for. That best work has been interspersed with accuracy and decision making issues over his 23 college starts that will turn off some analysts, although much more work will be done breaking Kizer down now that he’s officially heading for the pros.

North Carolina’s Mitch Trubisky and Clemson’s DeShaun Watson are seen as other potential high picks at quarterback when the 2017 Draft gets going next year.
