The Cardinals opened their three-day minicamp on Tuesday and welcomed cornerback Patrick Peterson back to practice.
Peterson has been out since having ankle surgery in April that he described as something he needed to have “cleaned up” after having the procedure. At the time of the surgery, Peterson said doctors were calling for a six-to-eight week recovery timetable.
Peterson appears to be right on schedule because he was doing individual drills as the team started their minicamp work. Peterson won’t have much time to work before the Cardinals pack things up until training camp, but told Darren Urban of the team’s website that any on-field work he’s able to do is important.
Peterson also said that he expects to be full go when the team does get to camp. If that’s the case, the bulk of the injury watch in Arizona will be devoted to safety Tyrann Mathieu’s recovery from a torn ACL.
