The New England Patriots have added some protection for Tom Brady.

Colorado offensive tackle Nate Solder is the Patriots’ choice with the 17th overall pick, which New England acquired from Oakland in exchange for Richard Seymour.

The 6-foot-8 Solder is viewed as an impressive physical specimen who has the athletic ability to be among the best tackles in the league, but who also needs a lot of coaching. Bill Belichick’s staff has a big project on its hands.

But if the Patriots can mold that project, they’ve just made a major addition to an already very good team.
